Unique Hampton Court Palace Gardens

How Big Are The Gardens?

Comprising new varieties and some classics, here are some of my favourite plant shots from the show:
i studied horticulture at writtle college in essex back in the early noughties – it was good fun and a great place to learn, and since then i’ve had various lovely jobs. I started working as a gardener at trinity college in cambridge, which is the biggest of cambridge university’s colleges.

That was the best gardening job I’ve ever had, the gardeners were talented and knowledgeable (and fun!), the college was relaxed and the grounds are extensive and beautiful. There are amazing gardens locked behind ‘secret garden’ doorways in ancient walls, huge perennial borders to tend to, massive hedges to trim (one is 30ft high), and lawns to mow with precision. It was the perfect place for me, as a new gardener, to gain all the experience I might need to see me off into a career in horticulture.

Piet Rudolf's landscapes are as people as they are planted. Folks flock to them, whether it’s the high line in new york, the meadows at Hauser & Wirth's art gallery in somerset, or the Olympic Park in Stratford, to name a few. Many of his gardens may be in hip locations or attached to big-name architects, but the reason people return again and again is his planting. His designs offer up something wild and alive. The plant combinations are dynamic and playful: you are as likely to go and admire decaying seed heads in winter as you are spring blossom. They rip up the flowerbed rule book and roll-out, often over vast spaces. “I like to escape some of the rules around gardening – to provide thought and spontaneity, and pleasure. ”.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. The building itself is very big and has so much history. It’s like stepping back in time here, truly wonderful. The gardens are also superb – extremely well kept. It is a magical place that you won’t forget

wonderful day. The interiors are marvelously steeped in lavish heritage and the gardens are a delight to walk through.

Hampton Court Gardens: summer

For the last three months, Hampton court palace has been out of bounds to the public, besides a lovely, virtual peek at their stunning gardens. But now, as restrictions start to ease, the beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces will reopen to the public. In a statement released today (June 12) by historic royal palaces, it has been confirmed that the spaces will be open in time for the summer sunshine, as the gardens will be welcoming visitors from Thursday, June 18. There is no word of when the indoor areas will reopen, but they hope for it to “follow in line with the latest advice”.

The stunning gardens of Hampton court palace will be the setting for a unique cinematic experience this summer. Our giant screen sits on the east front lawns, with henry viii's palace providing a truly unforgettable floodlit backdrop. Your luna cinema ticket allows you access to the gardens ahead of sunset so you can admire one of Britain's most impressive historic royal palaces.

The royal horticultural society (RHS) announced today (June 2nd, 2020) that it is canceling its Hampton Court Palace garden festival. This comes just a few days after announcing the opening of its gardens under a pre-booking system. The society has also made the decision to cancel other horticultural shows due to take place in late summer, including RHS garden Rosemoor and RHS garden hyde hall.

Immaculately maintained, Hampton Court palace’s gardens are a real joy to visit at any time of the year. Featuring traditional plants that would have been sowed during the Tudor period, this is one of the most historically correct gardens in London, and some of the plants have a long ancestry having been grown from cuttings of plants dating back hundreds of years.

The ‘it’s all about community’ garden, created by celebrated designers Andrew Fisher Tomlin and Dan Bowyer, was one of the largest show gardens at Hampton Court that year. We received both a gold medal and an award for the best construction. The garden featured traditional stone, oak, and willow, which came together with ornamental trees, flowers, an orchard, and a kitchen garden. The major structure was a willow vine sculpture that wrapped around the whole garden. The sculpture, created by renowned artist tom hare, allowed visitors to walk through parts and experience the textures, colors, and fragrance of the garden first hand. They also got to enjoy a number of art and craft sculptures and features made by blind veterans themselves.
