Vintage Bus Weekend: Central London Heritage Rides
The T15 Heritage Weekend, scheduled for Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March 2026, offers a unique opportunity to experience central London aboard a fleet of vintage buses. Organized by Londoner Buses, the event revives a beloved service that ran until 2020, allowing passengers to ride historic Routemasters, Daimler double-deck motor buses, and other classic vehicles along the iconic number 15 route. This journey takes passengers between Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill, passing through significant landmarks like the Strand, Fleet Street, and Cannon Street, providing a nostalgic glimpse into London’s past with the benefit of open-platform rides.
The weekend operates with distinct offerings on each day. On Saturday, a minimum of six heritage buses will run approximately every 15 minutes from 10 am to 8 pm, connecting Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill. Fares apply, with adult single tickets priced at £2.50 and child singles at £1.00. Day tickets are also available for £7.50 for adults and £5 for children, offering an affordable way to enjoy multiple rides and sights. Among the attractions is a 1977 Silver Routemaster, a special bus originally introduced to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee, which will be in service on both days.
Sunday promises an even larger display, with around 17 vintage buses operating. Services commence at 9:25 am from Parliament Square and 10 am from Tower Hill, concluding around 5 pm. A significant benefit of Sunday’s event is that all bus rides are completely free. While no direct risks are highlighted in the article, passengers are encouraged to consider making donations, which will be collected by the Worshipful Company of Carmen in support of Ukraine. For those unable to attend, another opportunity arises on Saturday 14 March, when free heritage rides will operate on the 38 route between Victoria and Clapton Pond.
